It's actually a "Deer Holder" You attach a rope to the "T"ed end.
Basically, if you find a deer out side of hunting season, you sneek up VERY quietly behind the animal. Gently raise the tail and quickly insert the device... As you run for your life, tie the loose end of the rope to a tree.
Then pray to God you can outrun the rope length...
Come back when the hunting season is open. You'll have a nice deer waiting for you which you can now hit over the head with a hammer rather than wasting that expensive ammo on..

Bill When a deer is transported after it has been shot, it will usually expell feces, thus the but remover. Helps in clean up of the poop in the back of the truck
